Miles Mikolas is going for his 12th win of the 2018 campaign tonight in Miami. The Cardinals nearly came back in last night’s loss to the Marlins and are looking to get back on track with the Lizard King on the bump.

Game Notes
- Marlins get a leadoff base hit by Dietrich to start the bottom of the first and Justin Bour brings him all the home with a two out double to center. 1-0 Marlins through one inning.
- Marcell Ozuna leads off the second inning with a base hit, his fourth hit already in this series against his former team.
- Miles Mikolas single in the third! Remember his first Cardinals at-bat when he went YARD in Milwaukee? That was fun.
- Despite giving up a run in the first, Mikolas is cruising. He retires the Fish in order in the fourth and is throwing minimal pitches. 1-0 Marlins through four innings.
- DeJong doubles to leadoff the fifth but the Cardinals can’t get another hit in the inning and no run scores for the Cardinals. This offense looks anemic so far.
- J.T. Riddle cranks a leadoff triple down the right field line and a base hit from Rojas that just sneaks by Jedd at third scores Riddle. 2-0 Marlins through five innings.
- Mikolas throws an eight pitch inning in the sixth. His total is only at 71 through six. They guy just needs some run support!
- DEJONG! Paulie D hits a line drive that barely gets over the left field fence and with Jedd walking before him, DeJong ties the game.
- Schildt pulls Mikolas before the eighth. Miles goes seven innings, gives up two runs on five hits, walks zero and strikes out one on only 81 pitches. Would have liked to see Mikolas go at least another inning.
- MATT FREAKIN’ CARPENTER! On a 3-1 count Matt Carpenter hits his 30th home run of the year and the Cardinals take the lead in the eighth.
- Harrison Bader with a Superman catch to record the second out in the eighth. Watching him play center everyday is going to be so much fun.
- Bud Norris comes in a shuts the door on this game. What a comeback victory for the Cards!
- Cardinals improve to 59-55 on the season.
John Gant gets the ball in tomorrow’s rubber match game at 6:10 CST.
