Trying to hold it steady in Minnesota: A Cardinals – Twins series preview

And when we hit the twin cities, I didn't know that much about it I knew Mary Tyler Moore and I knew Profane Existence - Craig Finn Don't ever apologize for the 2006 Cardinals winning the World Series. I've heard more than one person say that they really needed 2011 to happen so they could…

5/12/18 Recap – The Cardinals lose 2-1 in San Diego

There's always a debate on which time zone is best for sports and it is a fluid conversation depending on the circumstances. If you're the type of person who must see the puck drop or the first pitch but you live on the west coast and work a normal 9-5 job, then Pacific Time can…

ICYMI: John Fleming’s Thursday 5/10 Recap, from On Location at Petco Park

Site manager John J. Fleming is currently in San Diego, and he recapped Thursday night's game from Petco on his phone through a non-negligible, but undetermined, quantity of beer. John posted the recap, and some folks may have gotten to it through Twitter, but it never hit the front page here on the site. It…

Ranking the great Cardinals/Padres trades

The Cardinals keep making seemingly fair trades with the San Diego Padres from which they emerge as clear victors.

5/11/18 Recap – Save Some Dingers for Later, Guys

Game 2 of the set in San Diego saw Luke Weaver take the fight to the Friars lineup, facing Eric Lauer, a 22-year-old 2016 1st round draft pick out of Kent State. 2 things about Lauer - he'd probably be a top 10 prospect in most systems, and he'd probably still be in the minors…

Imagining a more traditional career path for Tommy Pham (Pt. 2)

You didn't need to be reminded of this, but Tommy Pham is a hero. I don't mean in a patriotic sense (though I would certainly pledge my allegiance to him), rather a baseball sense. Since his call up last May, he's been the National League's best player and a delightful story that even the most optimistic Cardinal prospect hounds couldn't have predicted.
